Quantum Tunneling, Blackbody Spectrum and Non-Logarithmic Entropy Correction for Lovelock Black Holes

چکیده
We show, using the tunneling method, that Lovelock black holes Hawking radiate with a perfect blackbody spectrum. This is a new result. Within the semiclassical (WKB) approximation the temperature of the spectrum is given by the semiclassical Hawking temperature. Beyond the semiclassical approximation the thermal nature of the spectrum does not change but the temperature undergoes some higher order corrections. This is true for both black hole (event) and cosmological horizons. Using the first law of thermodynamics the black hole entropy is calculated. Specifically the D-dimensional static, chargeless black hole solutions which are spherically symmetric and asymptotically flat, AdS or dS are considered. The interesting property of these black holes is that their semiclassical entropy does not obey the Bekenstien-Hawking area law. It is found that the leading correction to the semiclassical entropy for these black holes is not logarithmic and next to leading correction is also not inverse of horizon area. This is in contrast to the black holes in Einstein gravity. The modified result is due to the presence of Gauss-Bonnet term in the Lovelock Lagrangian. For the limit where the coupling constant of the Gauss-Bonnet term vanishes one recovers the known correctional terms as expected in Einstein gravity. Finally we relate the coefficient of the leading (non-logarithmic) correction with the trace anomaly of the stress tensor.

Quantum Tunneling and Back Reaction
We give a correction to the tunneling probability by taking into account the back reaction effect to the metric of the black hole spacetime. We then show how this gives rise to the modifications in the semiclassical black hole entropy and Hawking temperature. Finally, we reproduce the familiar logarithmic correction to the Bekenstein-Hawking area law. In 1975, Hawking discovered [1] the remarka...
متن کاملCorrections to Hawking-like Radiation for a Friedmann- Robertson-Walker Universe
Recently, a Hamilton-Jacobi method beyond semiclassical approximation in black hole physics was developed by Banerjee and Majhi [29]. In this paper, we generalize their analysis of black holes to the case of Friedmann-Robertson-Walker (FRW) universe. It is shown that all the higher order quantum corrections in the single particle action are proportional to the usual semiclassical contribution. ...

We study quasistationary physical process for black holes within the context of Lanczos-Lovelock gravity. We show that the Wald entropy of the stationary black holes in Lanczos-Lovelock gravity monotonically increases for quasistationary physical processes in which the horizon is perturbed by the accretion of positive energy matter and the black hole ultimately settles down to a stationary stat...
متن کاملEntropy using Path Integrals for Quantum Black Hole Models
Several eigenvalue equations that could describe quantum black holes have been proposed in the canonical quantum gravity approach. In this paper, we choose one of the simplest of these quantum equations to show how the usual Feynman’s path integral method can be applied to obtain the corresponding statistical properties. We get a logarithmic correction to the BekensteinHawking entropy as alread...
متن کاملAn improved estimate of black hole entropy in the quantum geometry approach
A proper counting of states for black holes in the quantum geometry approach shows that the dominant configuration for spins are distributions that include spins exceeding one-half at the punctures. This raises the value of the Immirzi parameter and the black hole entropy. However, the coefficient of the logarithmic correction remains -1/2 as before. The quantum geometry approach to a quantum t...
